Fifty Dollar Dreams
What will fifty dollars get you in the realm of fantasy? There is a place near Hikkaduwa called the Eco Village where dreams are fulfilled.
Fantasy islands seem to beckon one there, complete with Sunil, a young house server, who announces the arrival of any new visitor.
Fifty dollars will get you a stay with breakfast overlooking a serene lake, where you can entertain your own fantasies while reclining on a wood frame bed.
The allure of the dream is the natural beauty of the place, the serenity and the opportunity to explore.
If you've got less opportunity to travel, but a penchant for books and beautiful men then why not have the two combined in a one-of-a-kind photographic exposé by Singapore based photographer, Bryan Smith.

Fantasy men like this are all clean fun that can rest on the coffee table or bookshelf with pride...It is a coffee table version of the dream where the natural beauty is that of the tropical male and serenity is in the artful expression that each image presents. Fantasy is left to be explored by the reader, as the author explains: Rich and rewarding fantasy can instantly uncoil from a recollection of a smell, an old memory, a taste or a single image... |
Bryan Smith's portraiture of the tropical male.

Beauty is restricted to no singular place or time, yet the beauty of men in the tropics is often overlooked in a more Eurocentric media world.
...fantasy begins in the mind of the viewer.

The allure of a prized stallion...
What sets the tropical male apart is a dark, handsome skin complexion and equally dark and alluring highlights whether the eyes, hair or facial features like thick brows, sideburns or a hairline on the torso.

Mr G with winning abs and complexion
Grooming gives distinction to the male. A clean-shaven jaw or waxed torso is the preference for some, while stubble or fully grown follicles are the turn on for others.

...light, shadow and the seductive male physique.
More to Come
Bryan Smith has a way with the camera and a way with photo editing that casts already handsomely crafted physiques into artistic expression. Whether it stirs the imagination of the viewer or simply delights the senses, these images of the tropical male are nothing if not tantalizing.

Postscript:
Just back from a trip to Sri Lanka I am once again mesmerized by the charming men and the wonderful experiences to be had. But a friend warns, "Be careful, don't be so kind to our people." Hmm... perhaps there are sometimes snakes among the charmers. Nevertheless, viva Sri Lanka.

Nice pictures of course but why are we selling books?
Yeah, the pictures are great. I'm not really selling books--I'm promoting the images. As the images are not mine but belong to the creator of the book, I'm happy to point back to source. It's a kind of collaboration. I get some great photos to post and the photographer gets some publicity for his work.
Sri Lankan men are an addiction.
I spent most of October in Sri Lanka my 2nd trip there and I fell even more in love with the island and its men then on my 1st trip and I'm already planning my 3rd.
There is something special about Sri Lankan men. They are all man but at the same time they have a gentleness to them.
Sure, your bound to come across ones that are just want to take you for what every they can but I think you can figure them out pretty soon.
But the rest..... the warm smiles..the wonderful bodies...what more could anyone want?
You're so right, James. In the poll I'm running in the sidebar masculine has been selected as one of the top adjectives to describe SL men, while effeminate ranks very low. Those high and low ratings surprised me a bit because many Sri Lankan men are of smaller and more gentle build. But what this seems to suggest is that despite that there is a pervasive masculinity about them. Sri Lankan men have a strong, seductive quality while at the same time being completely non-threatening--unlike, say, the machismo character of Latinos.
Hi! I am an Indian guy living in New York. I am going to be in Colombo on Sept 13 in Hotel Taj Samudra. I would love to meet one of your models at my hotel who can stay with me for the night. How do I get in touch when I arrive?
