Faces

How would you rate the faces of Sri Lankan men... Facemash anyone?
...in reference to the Facebook movie.

The face above is handsome, masculine and well-complemented by the serious expression. He also has a real Sri Lankan look about him. This is the quintessential Sri Lankan male.

As many will know this man (left) is a cricketer.

Wow... he's good-looking. I don't know his name, however.

Now he has really got the looks of an average Sri Lankan guy. He doesn't look rich, fancy or made up the way stars often come to look.

Way to go, man!

I think this is characteristic of most of the Sri Lankan professional cricketers. They seem to keep their down-to-earth personas.

Now here's a feat even the cricketer Malinga can't match--the most silky, attractive black curls.

Some Sri Lankan guys have the baddest locks!

These belong to a surfer dude found at surfingsrilanka.com.

Any Sri Lankan, male or female, could be among the lucky ones bestowed with full, bountiful locks of hair--sometimes curly, sometimes nappy, sometimes straight or wavy but always black and beautiful.

I've heard that coconut oil is used to keep the locks rich and black, while brownish hair is somewhat frowned upon. I don't know if that is really so and in fact the blond fringed curls of a surfer can also look quite attractive, too.

What do you think of this natural surfer guy? (Click on image below for very large view.)

Now here, below, is a boy with those college boy looks. He is Sri Lankan, I believe (named Rangana), but he also has the looks of a lot of Indian boys his age. He's got, as the Indians like to boast, a wheatish complexion, nice thick eyebrows and traces of an afternoon shadow, something that always makes the fairer boys look hot.

Complexion--dark brown. Ah, yes, the words most likely to get my attention when it comes to Sri Lankan guys.

The in-style for young men these days is the mustache-less goatee. I think that used to be a Muslim thing, but it seems to have caught on among young guys all over the world, giving them a chic ethnic look.

So, combine that with the dark complexion of this young man below and you've got winning Sri Lankan male looks.

The shades ain't cool.

So many of the young guys and older ones, too, from less developed countries seem to think it's so bad to be seen in shades. They associate it with being a big man--a Bollywood hero or a corrupt politician.

When I see the shades I think, OK if you've got to get the glare out of your eyes, but puttin 'em on to try to look cool in the photo...

just loose the shades.

The gentleman in the photo here, named Delon, I believe, is handsome, but I'd prefer to see his beautiful Sri Lankan eyes. He looks a lot like the guy in the top photo, or is it just the haircut?

I'm talking about the man in the mirror... This dream guy is a soldier.

It's my dream to befriend a Sri Lankan soldier guy. In uniform they are the best dressed men on the tropical isle. They look smart, well-mannered and innocent. I don't know if it is just the image. I am still waiting for one of the soldier men to write and introduce himself to me.

A single male traveller to Sri Lanka is more likely to befriend a young man like the one seen here (at left). Unlike the soldier (above) he is approachable and ever willing to have a conversation.

He is the young man you will meet waiting on your table or while waiting at a bus stop. You need only smile and say hello if he doesn't do so first. He'll ask where you're from and he'll share with you anything you may like to know about him.

It is a friendliness that seems to come naturally to young Sri Lankan men, especially in the rural areas. It isn't unusual for him to invite you to his home to meet his family. So, you just met him while walking along the street and he's ready to welcome you to his home, more likely the more humble the dwelling.

This is Sri Lankan hospitality.

If not the friendly young guy you will meet on the street or in your hotel, there are also the handsome young men you see all around but don't get the chance to interact with.

Maybe a bus driver, a shop assistant or an office worker whom you can only admire from afar. Like with the soldier, the situation may not lend itself to an easy approach.

In my favorite shopping place in Colombo, the House of Fashion, I had one such occasion to interact with one of the assistants on the men's floor.

In the true spirit of Sri Lankan hospitality the young man chatted with me as much as such could be managed in the awkward setting of a crowded shop floor. In other places that I have travelled and lived it has never been so easy to interact with the local population--save perhaps in Oman, also famous for its hospitality.

Maybe not so handsome, the young man pictured above has some attractive features. There are few things quite so masculine as thick eyebrows and little else more sensual in a man than thick, succulent lips. This young man has both of these features. And if it is the big, clear eyes of one's lover that one loves to gaze into, then this young man is again a winner.

Whatever the particular features, young Sri Lankan men often have a charm of some fashion that appeals to the unique taste of their suitor. It might be their eyes, those particularly masculine traits of facial or body hair or the more gentle features they might share with the fairer sex, like soft skin, a full head of hair and a slender build.

Despite my infatuation with the alluring qualities of the Sri Lankan male I can also hardly resist the charms of their fair neighbors to the north--namely those wondrous south Indians. Wondrous for their culture, food, history and also charming good looks.

Handsome Indian actor Siddharth Narayan,
before fame and before brow plucking.

Now, one more look at
the most handsome cricketer on the planet.
...whose name I've discovered is Chamara Silva.

Note to frequent visitors: The over two-months interval since the last posting is due to a recent move into a new home in Dubai. It was 5 years in coming and I've been so excited with the move. I also have yet to set up an internet connection.

I like the guy in the baseball cap; he's cute. So's the guy named Rangana. The five o'clock shadow is sexy.

But the best is Mr. Sufer Boy. Yes, I do agree that blonde surfer dudes are hot, too. But this guy's curling black locks are alluring. Running my hands through them would be heaven. Coconut oil probably does a lot to keep the locks rich looking and feeling. But keeping the locks black -- maybe, but it seems a little far fetched. Isn't coconut oil clear?

Sri Lankan men are the hottest in the world. Perfect beauty and intelligence is the impression one gets from a typical Sri Lankan beauty. No comparison to the blond albino or other mongol hordes. We should preserve ourselves.

Way to go and thanks for the site blog. Keep it up
