Sri Lankan Male is a popular blog with up to 2000 hits per day. I know you guys and gals love it for the pics. I love creating a platform to display the images. But I also want myself and all of us to be able to connect and interact.

Then, Why Not Chat?
What is it, actually, that brings people to chat online?
In the few times I've engaged in any meaningful chat it was quite simply to make a new friend. That is good enough reason to pursue it, right?
Another reason is to hook up for a tryst. I have never done that, but that's not to say I haven't thought about it.
But there are other things we could try using chat for.
- Getting new informaton.
Planning a trip to Sri Lanka? Why not pose a few questions?
Trading opinions.
It can be interesting to compare your thoughts with others. What do guys in Sri Lanka think about gay marriage? That could start an interesting exchange.
- Nobody replies...
It gets old fast to give your shout out and no one shouts back. Another shout out, but still nothing. Like lingering in that supposed meeting place, but no one returns your glance.
The conversation doesn't go anywhere.
It probably sounds old-fashioned of me to say that chatters, especially the younger ones, don't know how to converse. One word replies, or replies that aren't even complete words kill a conversation fast. You get back what you give. Give a one character grunt and get a one character grunt back.
Multitasking.
I don't know why people do it. It just ain't cool to be left hanging after each remark. People don't do that on the telephone so why should they do it when chatting? Just stop multitasking for a few minutes and have a real conversation.
Some chatters seem to think that to chat means, by definition, to be insincere.
You pretend to be someone or something you're not. You make up answers to questions. So, then what's the point in chatting at all? The more you pretend the more you believe the other is pretending, too. You end up simply with no real connection with a person you're supposedly reaching out to.
Chat the Right Way
So, let's look at ways to make chatting worthwhile.
- Do it purposefully--and make your purpose known. I mean, what's the point in saying Hi (full stop).
How the hell is anyone supposed to reply back... Hi (full stop). Then what?
Just get to the point:
- Anyone wanna hook up in Kandy?Just looking for someone to talk to...
Then, give people a reason to want to respond.
You say, Looking for a hot top. Ok, that's a start, but what's in it for me. I need to know who I'm responding to. So try,
- 30 y/o in Doha looking to chat with a hot top.
Be yourself. It isn't like there is a camera to reveal your identity, and you don't need to reveal your name, but at least represent yourself as the person you are. It may be common sense for most of us, but if you're not hairy then what's the point in saying you are. If you're over 50, then what's the point in giving a false age. At the end of the day, you want to find someone interested in the person you really are.
Understand that we are all multi-dimensional. No one is, say, just a top or just a bottom. Each person is a million different things--complex, multi-faceted and interesting in many different ways. Represent yourself as such and seek that out in others. This works best if others don't write you off just because you are older or younger than what they think to be their preference. You, me and everyone who turns up to chat is multi-dimensional
Don't grunt--use words, phrases and, dare I suggest, even full sentences. Lol and :p might seem witty and cute, but they are juvenile IMHO* and only show that you don't really know how to communicate.
Don't multitask. Stop whatever else you're doing and have a conversation. That is the whole point of chatting, isn't it?
*lol=laugh out loud, :p=poking out tongue, IMHO=in my humble opinion.
It isn't that hard to do these things in order to make your chatting really worthwhile. I mean, when you start typing something into the box, you really, really want someone to respond and it's really great when that response leads to a meaningful exchange. This*Is*Our*Platform So, what's on your mind today? What kind of new friend do you want to find... What ideas do you want to exchange... What do you want to know about Sri Lanka or Sri Lankan guys? |  |
